A Look Back at Football Radars and the Development
Technically, today is a holiday, so I’m giving you a short one before we move into full-blown transfer season in the coming weeks.
I asked for feedback a while ago (and you gave us a ton, which I really appreciated!), and one of the most repeated things we heard was readers wanting more information about radars, their development, how to interpret them, etc. I heard you loud and clear, so this week, we released a video on our Patreon about this topic.
Support from our readers and listeners is the only reason why The Transfer Flow exists, so if you’ve ever wanted to chip in and help our work, this is a great time for it. We run almost no ads, make the majority of our work available for free, and still produce some of the best analysis in the industry.
If you don’t have the ability to chip in, that’s okay too. I have written tens of thousands of words about football radars, the design decisions, their improvements, the updates, and how we used them historically. I also gave a talk about what we learned when the sports nerds disagreed with them. It’s not an exaggeration at this point to point to this work and say it changed how sports and fans look at player data.
Anyway, Happy Easter Weekend and thanks again for all the feedback and support. We’ve got some amazing stuff coming to you around the World Cup, then into the heat of the transfer frenzy, and then into a fresh PL season with previews and everything else. I hope you’ll stay tuned and if you love the work, tell your friends.
