Arsenal are doing stuff that makes sense
Plus Chelsea interested in Leão, Villa selling Rogers, wacky Serie A rumours.
We’re at full capacity around TTF right now, with MLS betting underway on the Variance Betting side (and a winning MLS weekend to start, though the Premier League let us down), TEAM REBUILDS in full swing — Spurs are up this week — and scheduling underway for our Premier League season preview in August, plus there are still matches going on all over Europe.
I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted.
However…
With Martin Zubimendi officially announced (we were under the assumption this 100% locked when leaked midseason), it’s probably useful to catch up on your favourite topic and ours: Transfer Rumours! But first, a message from our very clickworthy sponsor, who would like a bit of your attention.

Rumours and News
If you want a broader take on what Zubimendi potentially brings to Arsenal, check out JC Perez from earlier this season. My take is he is a very necessary move for the Gunners this summer, and the price (£51m) is fine compared to the market.
Speaking of Arsenal, they are allegedly in for Liam Delap (makes sense), and in the process of offering William Saliba a new, LARGE contract (makes double sense).
Just to aggregate these in one place: Liverpool are open to selling just about everyone this summer.
Italian football is one of my favourite places to try and “read between the lines” in the press briefings. I ADORE this one from last week, even if I have no idea what it actually means:
“Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis has intensified contact with former Juventus and AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri in case manager Antonio Conte leaves the club at the end of the season.”
Is Conte leaving? Is it a warning to try and keep him in line, or that the summer will be bumpy? Is it a desperate plea for the sanity of Allegri in case Napoli DON’T win the league? All options are on the table here and highly entertaining for your interested neutrals.Speaking of Napoli, they supposedly want to sign Kevin de Bruyne to play 12-20 beautiful Serie A matches a season through his mid-30s.
Or they’ll take 29-year-old Jack Grealish off Manchester City’s hands. Something something Maradona-esque bender that doesn’t get us in hock with the lawyers. When did Grealish get to be 29?!?
There’s suddenly a LOT of Morgan Rogers talk in the rumours. It went from none to “he’s potentially moving” in about a month, and if I had to guess, I would say his agent is very much agitating for a hefty pay rise for his client OR Villa are okay with cashing him in at a high fee as they keep rolling over their PSR requirements. Leaning agent, but Villa seem to like to keep their deal flow very high.
“Chelsea have opened talks for Rafael Leão.” I’m putting this here as a reference to refer back to when we have a bit more time, because well… yeah, I have opinions. Mohamed Mohamed wrote about him for us earlier this year.
Rangers are considering hiring: Gerrard, Gary O’Neil, Rob Edwards, and Russell Martin. Weirdly, this might be the ONE league where Russell Martin’s footballing style is ideal because the budget mismatch is pretty massive. But it’s not a particularly inspiring list, is it? You would absolutely think they could be just a touch more diverse and do better.
Sorry Man City fans, Florian Wirtz is like 98% locked in to Munich. The only way someone else wins the Bundesliga in the next decade is if some over-hyped coach comes in and destroys a Bayern season after Kompany leaves.
The rumour mill seems uncertain where the Cunha to Manchester United deal stands at present. Two weeks ago, this was definitely happening. This week, United are now nosing around a variety of similar targets with Premier League experience. As noted previously, we hate the release clause price of £62.5m floated, and maybe United do too.
Now I have to get back to researching so Spurs Rebuild, part 1 can be right here in your inbox tomorrow.
