Ted F**ked Up
[It’s a bank holiday here in Engerland, so no real content.]
Sometimes we fuck up and we have to admit our mistakes. Now this could be related to ANY aspect of my work life right now, but in this specific case, it’s related to the TTF Conference and the fan session in specific.
The StatsBomb Conference was wildly successful and by the end of it we had something like 500 professionals attending multiple tracks to see people give fresh talks and network. I missed it, but I also didn’t want to do the same thing, so we tried something new - a hybrid “conference” that was half industry nerd stuff in the daytime and then a fun extended live podcast at night.
We researched venues, I did some math, and spaffed a couple of prices for tickets on Eventbrite and went back to being busy at everything else.
However… tickets sales for the podcast session were slow and I heard some rumbles about price via email feedback. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but this continued and I realised that I fucked up.
Patrick and I have done meet ups in London FOR FREE. I have purchased double digit beers for the people that showed up. Sadly, the price for the podcast session, while very helpful in potentially recouping our cost for the venue, was preventing the exact thing we wanted: A big room full of happy, engaged podcast listeners.
So yeah, I fucked it. And now I’ve fixed it.
Instead of prices being hard to swallow for podcast fans (£75 for the evening session), they are now a tenner. 10£ to come see your favourite/least favourite smart podcast dorks rebuild Arsenal plus one other team and do random bits that entertain us through a whole evening. Tickets are on sale here.
To the superfans who already bought tickets at the higher price, you have our enormous gratitude and you’ll get refunds. And to everyone else, you have my apologies. We try things. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes we make mistakes, but we learn, we fix them, and we keep moving.
Hopefully we’ll see a whole bunch of you Fri, May 22nd in London. Tell your friends!
